As a young man he moved to Munkács and established an underwear manufacturing facility. This enterprise went bankrupt and Shmuel moved to Szinérváralja where he opened a business making floor tiles. This factory was destroyed by flood. He moved to Budapest in 1913, at the age of 57, and from there he traveled to Hamburg with the intent of emigrating to the U.S.A.. He changed his mind when he saw the quality of people who were boarding the ship, returned to Budapest and opened a restaurant in the vicinity of the Orthodox Jewish Synagogue. When the restaurant became unprofitable, he closed it and opened a butcher shop selling poultry. Shmuel survived the Holocaust and the war in Budapest but shortly after Pest was already in Russian hands he was killed by a German shell fired from Buda.
