The household was recorded as Orthodox.¹ During the Holocaust, Regina was confined to the Selo Slatina ghetto and then deported to Auschwitz II-Birkenau.¹ From there she passed through a succession of camps in Germany — Ravensbrück, Frankfurt am Main, and Zillerthal-Erdmannsdorf — before being liberated at the Gablonz camp in Bohemia by Soviet forces at war's end.¹ After liberation she lived in displaced-persons camps.¹ She married [[Aron Bernstein (b.1919)]], and the couple were known within the family as Zaidy Aharon and Bubby Rivka. Their children were [[Shoshana Bernstein (b.1948)]] and [[Moshe Zvi Bernstein (b.1951)]]. In later life the family settled in the United States.
