**Identity & naming.** Recorded across Piaski records as **Wulf / Wolf Hamer(man)**, patronymic **Wolf Szymonowicz** (son of [[Szymon (b.1747)]]). Family tradition holds him a **haCohen (Kohen)**. Surname "Hamer / Hamerman" only surfaces in records from the early 1820s onward; before that he appears by given name + patronymic (**Wulf Szymonowicz**). *This matters for searching un-indexed sources: pre-1821 he will be "Wulf Szymonowicz," not "Hamer."*
**Occupation.** Consistently recorded as **"Spektor" / inspektor** (a Jewish communal/synagogue official ā cf. *szkolnik* / dozĆ³r bĆ³Å¼niczy), across 1818, 1820 and 1836. A stable communal office over ~two decades.
**Stated ages are inconsistent** (all estimates):
- 1818 (informant, Leyba's death) ā "aged 40" ā b. ~1778
- 1820 (father, Cypa's birth) ā "age 48" ā b. ~1772

2. **Was there a third marriage / who cared for him 1836ā1851?** He outlived Blima by ~15 years. Check Piaski marriages/deaths 1836ā1851 for a later wife or a widower notation.
3. **Mindla's death date ā conflict.** Her profile says "died aft 1826" (from being *named* in the 1826 marriage), but the Cypa/Blima chronology implies she died ~1818ā1819. Naming a parent in a marriage act does not prove she was living. See [[Mindla (b.1784)]].
4. **Brother Mosiek/Moszek Szymonowicz** ā confirm and add (teacher/sexton, b. ~1775; second child of Szymon). Look for his own life records in Piaski.
