It was founded in 1890 by First Aliyah pioneers from Warsaw near the site of Khirbat Deiran. It is best known as the home of the Weizmann Institute of Science (established 1934 as the Daniel Sieff Institute, renamed in 1949 for Israel's first president Chaim Weizmann). Sources: Wikipedia — Rehovot; Britannica — Rehovot; Weizmann Institute of Science. ## People with events here | Person | Event | | --- | --- | | [[Avraham Magen (b.1933)]] | Born 01/31/1933 | | [[Batya Cecerski (b.1936)]] | Born 09/17/1936 | | [[Nechama Vilosgrad (b.1950)]] | Born 06/30/1950 | | [[Steve Farkas (b.1960)]] | Born 11/27/1960 | | [[Chanan Nissenbaum (b.1973)]] | Born 07/10/1973 | | [[Yaki Nissenbaum (b.1975)]] | Born 07/04/1975 | | [[Lea Shmushkin (b.1893)]] | Died 09/01/1976 | | [[Shusy Nissenbaum (b.1978)]] | Born 05/28/1978 | | [[Bar Kochva Isseroff (b.1912)]] | Died 11/27/1989 | | [[Ami Shimshon Isseroff (b.1946)]] | Died 06/29/2011 |
