Roughly 2,600 Jews lived in Kurów at the outbreak of World War II. A ghetto was established around 1941, and in April–May 1942 most of the town's Jews were marched to nearby Końskowola — some killed en route — and deported toward the Sobibór extermination camp; a further group was murdered in the town on 13 November 1942.
