It is a small rural locality with no separately documented Jewish community of its own; Jews of the area belonged to the kehilla of the nearby shtetl of Bychawa, which had a substantial pre-war Jewish population destroyed in the Holocaust. Note: several other places called Podzamcze exist near Lublin (e.g. in Świdnik and Łęczna counties) and the name is also used for the old Jewish quarter district of Lublin city itself; records naming "Podzamcze" should be cross-checked against the person's other places before firm identification. Sources: Wikipedia — Podzamcze, Lublin County, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podzamcze,_Lublin_County ; Wikipedia — Gmina Bychawa, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmina_Bychawa ## People with events here | Person | Event | | --- | --- | | [[Judka Frenk (b.1796)]] | Born ~1796, Died aft 1855 | | [[Esterka Frenk (b.1826)]] | Born 1826 | | [[Szmul Frenk (b.1839)]] | Born 09/17/1839, Died 10/05/1839 | | [[Hersz Majlech Milhaus (b.1841)]] | Born 09/05/1841 | | [[Chawa Frenk (b.1843)]] | Born ~08/24/1843 | | [[Bajla Felyat (b.1800)]] | Died 02/13/1846 | | [[Berek Frenk (b.1852)]] | Born 11/19/1852 |
