From the mid 20th century it became one of the most significant Jewish population centers in the United States, with Miami Beach and greater Miami-Dade drawing waves of Jewish retirees and families from the Northeast, as well as Holocaust survivors and, later, Latin American and Israeli Jewish immigrants.
