## Overview
Loza (Ukrainian Лоза; Hungarian Füzesmező) is a small village in Irshava Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast, in the Transcarpathian (Carpathian Ruthenian) region of western Ukraine — until the 2020 administrative reform it lay within Khust Raion. The identification of the intended "Loza" carries some ambiguity, as the name recurs in the region, but the Zakarpattia village at these coordinates is the one matching the vault's Ukraine placement. No distinct, separately-sourced Jewish-community record for Loza itself — a Hebrew or Yiddish community name, congregation, or population figures — could be located in the consulted genealogical sources, so those fields are left empty rather than guessed; any Jewish residents would most likely have been counted within the nearby Irshava community. The Jews of Subcarpathia were among the poorest in Europe, many living rurally and working in trade, crafts, or agriculture. In line with the fate of Carpathian Ruthenian Jewry, any Jewish presence here would have been swept up in the mass deportations of May 1944, when the region — then under Hungarian rule — sent tens of thousands of Jews to Auschwitz; this cannot, however, be documented for Loza individually.
