Under Hungarian rule from 1939, Jews faced anti-Jewish laws and forced labour; in August 1941 some non-citizen Jewish families were expelled to Kamianets-Podilskyi and murdered. After the German occupation of Hungary, 2,044 Jews from Solotvyno and ~3,000 from the surrounding area were deported to Auschwitz in 1944; a 19th-century synagogue (restored 2010) and a Jewish
